3. Offense - Support Role
You are in an offensive support role anytime your teammate has possession of the puck. Since only one player at a time can have possession of the puck, that means all four of that player’s teammates are all “support” players.
The pillar for offensive support players is to always be working to serve the puck carrier. Not the other way around. Don’t just sit back and wait for the puck carrier to find you with a perfect pass.
The primary options you have when in this role are all dependent upon which type of support the puck carrier needs most - close support, far support or scoring support.
