4.1.2 - Pillar - Constant Puck Movement
Skate on First Touch
Get your feet moving as soon as you touch the puck and attack open ice. Keep in mind, there are many situations where the open ice is behind you. So dont be afraid to skate backwards or cutback immediately to always skate on first touch.
Pass-First Mindset
Passing should always be your first option. The puck moves faster than we can skate, so passing the puck is a great way to keep the puck in constant motion. Keep in mind though, we want to always improve the conditions of the puck with a pass. If you can’t do that, don’t make the pass.
3-Second Principle
Within the first three seconds of you touching the puck, you need to either pass to a teammate in a better position than you, or turn on the jets and sprint to open ice. Make this read quickly. Don’t be easy to defend.
