4.2.5 - Protect the Puck - One-Hand
1. Drop One Hand
Drop one hand off your stick while you control the puck with your other hand. Use the back of your palm to shield the puck, forming a wall between the puck and your opponent’s stick. You will typically use a shuffle or outside edge roll skating technique here, but you can also use a mohawk or corkscrew.
2. Hit Opponent’s Stick
Physically hit your opponent’s stick out of the way with the back of your palm. Keep your arm straight and keep your elbow locked.
Lean into your opponent’s space and drive your hips through their hands. Put them on your back to effectively eliminate them from the play.
3. Double-Touch the Puck
Underhandle the puck. Double-touch on the forehand or backhand with little taps instead of trying to stickhandle.
